The California Highway Patrol prepares annual reports of fatal and injury motor vehicle traffic collisions as a component of the Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS). The reports also contains the latest information available for motor vehicle registration, motorcycle registration, licensed drivers, population and roadway miles for each county.

The Safe Transportation Research and Education Center (SafeTREC) at UC Berkeley has created TIMS to provide data and mapping analysis tools and information for traffic safety related research, policy and planning.
